Sonic and the gang on an expedition to go to another deserted ex-planet, "looking for emeralds. When Cosmo and Tails enter a canyon cave, Cosmo accidentally presses a hidden button that they plunge into a huge underground cave causes. The two spot some weird fireflies which they follow, discover a giant fortress Metarex! Inside it a Chaos Emerald factory that uses a real Emerald, to create fake. But if they are spotted by the Metarex, they grab the emerald and run! Only if they thinkthey are sure the Metarex catch with them and everything seems lost. Fortunately, at the same moment Sonic and show the rest of the gang and help them defeat Metarex and their flight.
